Love Wounds
is a tale about Sugar, a young, professional woman who is determined to not be lost to the streets of Baltimore. In addition to the main character, there is a very colorful cast of characters, and we are privy to many of their escapades. However, the book was difficult to follow because there was just too many things going on at the same time, and the author kept switching from person to person. It took some time to read because I had to keep going back to figure out who was doing what. The book truly needed more clarity. -Sistah Deniece

The Ups And Downs Of Being Round by Monica Marie Jones was a slow-paced book, as well as quite redundant. The true meaning of the story was evident and revealed in regards to a young adult who struggled with weight throughout her life, and was able to experience the life of being overweight, as well as being “thin” and “accepted” by others. However, the book stressed being overweight so often that it became overwhelming and uninteresting. I believe that young adults who struggle with being overweight could possibly relate to this book, but may also feel that some of the experiences dealt with in this book are a little exaggerated. - Sistah Shauna
