A Ram in the Bush is a story about how jealousy and abuse can ruin a relationship. The author introduces two newlyweds, Shay and Winston, who have been married for six months. During their first three months, they were in wedded bliss; but, Shay’s obsessive jealousy steps in and threatens to ruin their happiness.

As Shay is dealing with her issues, she meets Maya, who is also working through her own issues with her husband of two years. Through Maya, Shay is able to see the errors of her ways in her own relationship, and the two women forge a bond and are able to help each other through the tumultuous times in their lives.

Barbra Porter-Coleman does an excellent job with character development. The story is well written and the plots and sub-plots are easy to follow. This book was a joy to read, and I would recommend that readers add it to their list of “must reads. - Sistah Deniece
